Overview

BL-9010 is a novel bi-specific antibody (Fab fragment) developed for the treatment of severe and persistent asthma, with potential applications in chronic urticaria and other allergic conditions. The drug targets and links two immunological modulators—Immunoglobulin E (IgE) and CD300a. Allergen-bound IgE activates mast cells involved in allergic responses, while CD300a acts as an inhibitory receptor on these cells. By simultaneously binding IgE and CD300a, BL-9010 potently inhibits mast cell activation and the subsequent release of allergy-mediating substances, thereby blocking allergic reactions characteristic of asthma. Preclinical studies have demonstrated significant efficacy in murine models of experimental asthma as well as inhibition of human mast cell activation in vitro[2][6][1].
