Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BL SLIT I is a sublingual formulation of low-dose interleukin-2 (IL-2) being developed by Biolingus for the treatment of various autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. Utilizing a proprietary mucosal delivery technology, the drug targets the IL-2 receptor to modulate the immune system by promoting the expansion of regulatory T cells (Tregs) while maintaining or suppressing effector T cells (Teff). This immunomodulatory approach aims to restore immune tolerance. The sublingual route is designed to target the lymphatic system directly, potentially enhancing efficacy and reducing the systemic side effects associated with traditional injectable IL-2 therapies. It is currently in preclinical development for indications including juvenile Type 1 diabetes, asthma, psoriasis, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and multiple sclerosis.
