Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BL5-6.2 is an orally stable, heterodivalent single-domain antibody (VHH) binding protein developed by Bactolife. It is designed to target and neutralize Clostridioides difficile toxin B (TcdB) in the gastrointestinal tract. By binding to the glycosyltransferase domain (GTD) of TcdB, BL5-6.2 prevents toxin-mediated cytotoxicity, preserves epithelial barrier integrity, and reduces mucosal inflammation without disrupting the gut microbiota. Engineered for high stability under gastric acidity, pepsin, secondary bile acids, and thermal processing, BL5-6.2 is being developed as a food-grade functional ingredient or dietary supplement to support gut resilience and prevent Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) in vulnerable populations.
