Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BL5923 is a potent, highly selective, and orally active small molecule antagonist of C-C chemokine receptor type 1 (CCR1). Developed by Novartis, BL5923 exhibits nanomolar inhibitory activity against human, mouse, and rat CCR1, with high selectivity over other chemokine receptors (such as CCR2, CCR4, CCR5, CCR6, CCR7, CXCR1, CXCR2, and CXCR3). In preclinical studies, BL5923 has demonstrated therapeutic potential in various disease models, including suppressing colon cancer liver metastasis by blocking the accumulation of immature myeloid cells, ameliorating the progression of lupus nephritis, protecting against systemic candidiasis, and impairing acute myeloid leukemia (AML) stem cell propagation in aged bone marrow microenvironments.
