Overview

Blad-Care is a medical device and therapeutic solution developed by BioPlus for the treatment of bladder inflammation and the improvement of cystitis symptoms. It is composed of sodium hyaluronate and sodium chondroitin sulfate, which are the primary components of the glycosaminoglycan (GAG) layer that coats and protects the bladder epithelium. In patients with conditions such as interstitial cystitis, radiation-induced cystitis, or chronic recurrent cystitis, the GAG layer is often deficient or damaged, allowing toxic urinary solutes to penetrate the bladder wall and trigger pain, urgency, and inflammation. Blad-Care is administered via intravesical instillation, where it acts as a biocompatible biomaterial to replenish the protective GAG layer, restore the integrity of the mucosal barrier, and shield the underlying tissues. Approved in South Korea in 2021, it is used as a tissue repair material and a supportive treatment for various forms of bladder wall damage.
