BLB-201 is an investigational intranasal vaccine candidate developed for the prevention of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection. It is based on a proprietary parainfluenza virus 5 (PIV5) vector that encodes the RSV F protein. The PIV5 vector is not known to cause disease in humans and has been used safely in veterinary vaccines for decades. BLB-201 aims to induce both antibody and cell-mediated immune responses against RSV, with preclinical studies showing immunogenicity and protection from RSV infection in animal models. Clinical trials have demonstrated safety, tolerability, and promising immunogenicity in infants, young children, and adults over 60 years old. The vaccine is administered as a single intranasal dose.
