Overview

Bletilloside A is a naturally occurring glucoside isolated from the tubers/roots of Bletilla striata (also known as Bletillae Rhizoma or Bai-ji), a traditional Chinese medicinal orchid. It is structurally characterized as a phenanthrene- or bibenzyl-derived glycoside (reported as 3-methoxyshancigusin I) and is one of many glycosidic constituents contributing to the pharmacological profile of Bletilla striata, which includes hemostatic, anti-inflammatory, wound-healing, and gastroprotective properties. Preclinical supplier data indicate that Bletilloside A exhibits anti-gastric-ulcer activity, but it is currently used only as a research chemical and has not been developed as a standalone therapeutic or assigned a defined molecular pharmacological target.
