Overview

BLHK03 is a synbiotic formula composed of the probiotic strain *Bifidobacterium longum* HK003 and the water-soluble vitamin biotin (Vitamin B7). It is currently being investigated for its potential to alleviate chemotherapy-induced alopecia (CIA) in breast cancer patients. The probiotic component, *B. longum* HK003, was originally isolated from healthy human feces and has demonstrated protective effects against hair follicle atrophy in preclinical models of cyclophosphamide-induced hair loss. Biotin is included in the formulation to support keratin production, which is essential for hair and nail health. The therapy aims to leverage the gut-skin axis to modulate the gut microbiome and provide nutritional support to mitigate the dermatological side effects of oncological treatments.
