Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BLI-1006 is a botanical new drug candidate extracted from an herb with a long history of use in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is being developed as an oral treatment for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. Preclinical animal studies have shown that BLI-1006 can relieve colon inflammation, reduce ulcer symptoms, and inhibit multiple inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-6. Its mechanism involves antagonism of cytokine receptors, particularly acting as a TNF-α inhibitor. Compared to existing treatments like immunosuppressants or steroids, BLI-1006 has demonstrated higher safety and fewer side effects in preclinical models[1][2]. The developer is BioLite.
