Overview
BLI850 is an osmotic laxative combination developed by Braintree Laboratories for bowel cleansing prior to colonoscopy. The product is a hybrid formulation that combines half-doses of an oral sulfate solution (comprising sodium sulfate, potassium sulfate, and magnesium sulfate) with polyethylene glycol 3350 (PEG-3350). This combination is intended to facilitate colonic evacuation by increasing the osmotic pressure within the intestinal lumen, thereby promoting water retention and bowel movements. BLI850 was designed to optimize the balance between cleansing efficacy and patient tolerability compared to standard full-dose sulfate or high-volume PEG preparations. It was developed under IND 102894 and evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials.
