Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bloateze is an over-the-counter oral combination product developed by Phoenix Laboratories for the relief of symptoms associated with abdominal bloating, flatulence, and cramping. It is formulated as a double-layer tablet containing 50 mg of simethicone and 300 mg of activated charcoal (carbon). Simethicone acts as an anti-foaming agent that reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles in the gastrointestinal tract, allowing them to coalesce into larger bubbles that are more easily eliminated. Activated charcoal acts as an adsorbent, binding excess gas and toxins. In Europe, Bloateze is registered as a medical device due to its purely physical and mechanical mechanism of action, with a dual-release profile that targets both the stomach and the intestines.
