Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Blood-nourishing and hard-softening capsule is an oral traditional Chinese herbal medicine mixture evaluated for symptomatic management of knee osteoarthritis. The reported preparation is an extract of Bai Shao, Qin Jiao, and Gan Cao, with paeoniflorin and gentianine described as major constituents. In a 4-week randomized controlled trial, it improved WOMAC pain, stiffness, and physical-function measures, with no significant efficacy difference versus the comparator herbal medicine or Viartril-S; the trial did not include a placebo group.
