Overview
Blosozumab is a humanized IgG4 monoclonal antibody that targets sclerostin (SOST), a glycoprotein that acts as a negative regulator of bone formation. By binding to and inhibiting SOST, blosozumab promotes osteoblast activity and increases bone formation, leading to improved bone mineral density (BMD). It is being developed primarily for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men with low BMD. Clinical trials have shown dose-dependent increases in lumbar spine, total hip, and femoral neck BMD with good tolerability. Blosozumab was originally developed by Eli Lilly and Company; Transcenta Holding has since licensed rights for development in Greater China[1][2][3][4][5][7][10].
