Overview
**BLR250** is a Baxter-developed, two-chamber peritoneal dialysis fluid for chronic renal failure in patients receiving continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis. It contains a combined bicarbonate and lactate buffer system with total alkali of 35 mmol/L; separating buffer and glucose during heat sterilization/storage enables a neutral or near-neutral final dialysate with reduced glucose-degradation products. In a Japanese randomized, multicenter, open-label Phase III non-inferiority study versus Dianeal PD-4, BLR250 maintained peritoneal solute clearance and ultrafiltration while improving metabolic acidosis without apparent bicarbonate over-correction.
