Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BLR350 is a peritoneal dialysis fluid (PDF) developed by Baxter Limited for patients with chronic renal failure undergoing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). It is a biocompatible solution utilizing a two-chamber bag system that contains a mixed buffer of bicarbonate and lactate (totaling 35 mmol/L). This formulation is designed to improve the correction of metabolic acidosis compared to standard lactate-only solutions while maintaining peritoneal creatinine clearance and ultrafiltration volume. In a Phase III clinical trial in Japan, BLR350 demonstrated non-inferiority to standard Dianeal PD-2 fluid and showed superior acid-base status management without over-correction.
