Blue scorpion venom refers to the crude or partially purified venom obtained from the Cuban blue scorpion Rhopalurus junceus, an arachnid species endemic to Cuba that has been promoted as an alternative remedy for cancer, pain, and inflammation. Preclinical studies suggest that components of this venom, including hyaluronidases and low–molecular weight peptides such as chlorotoxin-like peptides and RjAa12f, can inhibit tumor cell growth, induce apoptosis, and interfere with ion channel function, with relatively limited toxicity to normal cells in vitro and in animal models. Clinical evidence in humans is limited to small, largely uncontrolled studies and observational experiences; some reports describe improved quality of life and pain control in cancer patients, but robust evidence of anticancer efficacy is lacking, and major oncology centers consider it unproven. The venom has been formulated into various commercial products (for example, oral or injectable preparations such as Escozul, Escozine, and homeopathic Vidatox), but these are not approved as conventional anticancer drugs, and their composition, dose, and standardization vary widely.
