Overview

BM-3103 (TolaSure) is a topical small molecule mTOR inhibitor developed by BioMendics for the treatment of rare dermatologic diseases, specifically those involving keratin mutations. It utilizes proprietary MTORX™ liquid crystal technology to deliver the active ingredient, 4-hydroxy-4'-methoxytolan. The drug is primarily being investigated for epidermolysis bullosa simplex (EBS), where it aims to target and reduce aggregated mutant keratins that cause skin fragility. BM-3103 has received Orphan Drug and Rare Pediatric Disease designations from the FDA. Clinical studies also explore its efficacy in accelerated wound healing and other keratin-related disorders such as pachyonychia congenita and epidermolytic ichthyosis.
