Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BM-Allo.MSC is an allogeneic, bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy developed by NantKwest (now part of ImmunityBio) for the treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), particularly in patients with severe COVID-19. The therapy leverages the immunomodulatory properties of MSCs to reduce systemic inflammation and mitigate lung injury. It was evaluated in a Phase 1b randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial (NCT04616482) to assess safety and preliminary efficacy in patients requiring mechanical ventilation. The donor material for the therapy was sourced through a partnership with Be The Match BioTherapies (National Marrow Donor Program).
