BM-MNC + HOT is a combination therapy consisting of autologous bone marrow-derived mononuclear cell (BM-MNC) infusion together with hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HOT). BM-MNCs are a heterogeneous population of cells isolated from bone marrow, including hematopoietic stem cells, endothelial progenitor cells, lymphocytes, and other mononuclear cell types. These cells are used in regenerative medicine for their ability to promote angiogenesis, vascular repair, and tissue regeneration through the secretion of growth factors and cytokines. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized environment to enhance tissue oxygenation and may support cellular function or survival. The combination has been investigated primarily for metabolic control and islet function improvement in type 2 diabetes mellitus. Clinical studies indicate that while both BM-MNC infusion alone and the combination with HOT improve C-peptide levels (a marker of islet function), there is no significant synergistic effect from adding HOT to BM-MNC infusion[6]. Adverse effects reported are mild.
