Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BM219 is an inhaled, broad-spectrum neutralizing antibody, specifically a nanobody, developed for the treatment of COVID-19. It is designed to be administered via nebulization, which facilitates direct delivery to the respiratory tract and lungs—the primary sites of SARS-CoV-2 infection. By binding to the Spike (S) protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, BM219 prevents the virus from interacting with the host cell's ACE2 receptor, thereby inhibiting viral entry and replication. Developed by Shanghai Biomissile Pharmaceuticals in collaboration with clinical partners like The Third Hospital of Changsha, BM219 has shown potent activity against various SARS-CoV-2 variants in preclinical models. It is currently undergoing Phase I/II clinical evaluation to assess its safety, pharmacokinetics, and therapeutic efficacy in healthy individuals and patients with COVID-19.
