BM32 is a recombinant grass pollen allergy vaccine developed for allergen immunotherapy in patients with grass pollen-induced allergic rhinitis and controlled asthma. It consists of four recombinant fusion proteins, each containing hypoallergenic peptides derived from the IgE-binding sites of the four major grass pollen allergens (Phl p 1, Phl p 2, Phl p 5, and Phl p 6), fused to the preS protein from hepatitis B virus. This design reduces IgE binding capacity while retaining immunogenicity. BM32 is administered as subcutaneous injections and aims to induce allergen-specific IgG antibodies that block allergic reactions with fewer injections and reduced side effects compared to traditional immunotherapies. The technology was invented at the Medical University of Vienna by Prof. Rudolf Valenta's lab and developed by Biomay AG[3][4][6].
