Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BM41 is a recombinant hypoallergenic mutant of the major birch pollen allergen Bet v 1, developed as an innovative immunotherapy for birch pollen allergy. Unlike traditional allergen extracts or unmodified Bet v 1 used in allergy immunotherapy (AIT), BM41 is engineered to have significantly reduced IgE reactivity (hypoallergenicity) while retaining or enhancing its ability to stimulate protective immune responses (hyperimmunogenicity). The goal of using BM41 is to provide safer and more effective treatment for allergic rhinitis/rhinoconjunctivitis caused by birch pollen, with fewer side effects and improved induction of protective IgG4 and IgA antibodies. Clinical trials have evaluated subcutaneous administration of BM41 alone or in combination with vitamin D3 as an adjuvant[2][3][4][5][9].
