BM601 refers to two distinct experimental drug candidates developed in China. The first is a benzimidazole small-molecule derivative developed by the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica (SIMM) for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B. It acts as a secretion inhibitor that blocks the transport of the hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus, thereby reducing the release of HBsAg and HBV virions without affecting viral DNA replication or HBeAg levels. The second BM601 is a drug candidate developed by Suzhou Baimai Biopharmaceutical, which has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In these trials, BM601 is administered via intravenous injection in combination with transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) to assess its safety, tolerability, and anti-tumor activity.
