Overview

Bmab1700 is an intended nivolumab biosimilar being developed by Biocon Biologics for the treatment of melanoma. As a monoclonal antibody, it functions as a PD-1 immune checkpoint inhibitor, targeting the programmed cell death-protein 1 (PD-1) receptor to prevent its interaction with ligands PD-L1 and PD-L2. This blockade enhances T-cell mediated anti-tumor activity. The drug is currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical evaluation to demonstrate pharmacokinetic similarity, safety, and immunogenicity compared to the reference product, Opdivo (nivolumab), specifically in the adjuvant setting for patients with completely resected Stage IIB/C, III, or IV melanoma.
