BMB-202 is a highly selective serotonin 5-HT2A receptor agonist and psychedelic hallucinogen under development for the treatment of depressive disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It acts as a full agonist at the serotonin 5-HT2A receptor, with over 30-fold selectivity compared to the 5-HT2C receptor and more than 500-fold selectivity over the 5-HT2B receptor. The compound demonstrates two-fold greater potency than psilocin in vitro. Unlike first-generation psychedelics, BMB-202 does not have significant activity at other serotonin receptors. It is characterized as a fast acting, short duration "fast-on-fast-off" compound with anticipated patient discharge around two hours after administration. The drug exhibits excellent brain penetrance and has shown an antidepressant profile in vivo. Developed by Bright Minds Biosciences, it is currently being investigated primarily for depression and PTSD[1][2][3][4][5][7].
