BMC-AMI (also known as AMIRST) is an autologous bone marrow mononuclear cell (BMC) therapy developed by Beijing Boya Research Institution (Boyalife Group) in collaboration with Cesca Therapeutics (formerly ThermoGenesis and TotipotentRX). The therapy is prepared at the point-of-care using the SurgWerks-AMI and VXP system, which isolates and concentrates stem and progenitor cells (including hematopoietic stem cells, mesenchymal stem cells, and endothelial progenitor cells) from the patient's own bone marrow without the use of density gradient media. BMC-AMI is designed to support myocardial repair, reduce adverse remodeling, and improve cardiac function through regenerative and paracrine effects in patients who have suffered an acute myocardial infarction (AMI) with low left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). It is currently in Phase 1/2 clinical development.
