Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BMC202 is a small-molecule drug candidate being developed by Biomica for the treatment of *Clostridioides difficile* Infection (CDI). While Biomica's core pipeline primarily features Live Bacterial Products (LBPs), BMC202 utilizes a small-molecule approach to target and neutralize the toxins produced by *C. difficile* bacteria. These toxins are the primary virulence factors responsible for the inflammation, mucosal damage, and severe diarrhea associated with the infection. By neutralizing these toxins directly, BMC202 aims to reduce the clinical severity of CDI and potentially prevent the recurrence of the disease without the broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity that can further disrupt the gut microbiome.
