Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BMC230 is a small molecule antibiotic being developed by Biomica for the treatment of Methicillin-resistant *Staphylococcus aureus* (MRSA) infections. Currently in the discovery stage, the drug is designed to selectively target and inhibit the large ribosomal subunit of pathogenic *S. aureus*. This selective approach utilizes high-resolution crystal structures—in-licensed from Nobel laureate Prof. Ada Yonath—and computational virtual screening to identify molecules that eliminate the pathogen while preserving the patient's commensal gut microbiome, offering a precision alternative to traditional broad-spectrum antibiotics.
