Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**BMC333** is Biomica's rationally designed, four-strain live bacterial consortium being developed as a microbiome-based therapeutic for inflammatory bowel disease. The live biotherapeutic product was optimized from strains previously included in Biomica's BMC321 and BMC322 candidates and was selected for complementary anti-inflammatory functions. In preclinical colitis models, BMC333 reduced intestinal inflammatory damage and inflammatory biomarkers; reported findings also included increased immunosuppressive cell populations in the intestinal lamina propria without increased interferon-gamma production. Biomica completed preclinical development and had been scaling GMP manufacturing toward a planned Phase 1 study.
