Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BMD-1111 is a targeted therapeutic developed by BiologicsMD, Inc. It is a recombinant fusion protein composed of an Active Domain, which acts as a parathyroid hormone agonist, and a Binding Domain that specifically targets and binds to type I triple-helical collagen. This design allows for the localized activation of the PTH/PTHrP receptor within bone tissue, leading to a sustained therapeutic response with minimal off-target effects, such as hypercalcemia. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in promoting bone repair, particularly in models of post-menopausal osteoporosis, with a single subcutaneous injection providing superior results compared to daily administration of teriparatide.
