Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BMEC-1217B is an orally administered investigational anti-asthma agent developed by Medigreen Biotechnology. It is a modified formulation based on traditional Chinese medicine, specifically a version of Liu-Wei-Di-Huang-Wan, with the ratio of components optimized for pharmacological activity. Preclinical studies indicate that BMEC-1217B inhibits the synthesis of key pro-inflammatory mediators such as cysteinyl leukotrienes, interleukin-4 (IL-4), and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), which are involved in the pathophysiology of allergic asthma. In animal models, it has demonstrated improvement in lung function and reduction in airway hyperreactivity. The drug has undergone Phase 1 clinical trials to assess safety and tolerability in healthy volunteers[1][2][5].
