Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BMP2-Lentivirus (BMP2-LV) is a gene therapy platform consisting of a lentiviral vector engineered to express bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2). In preclinical research, particularly at Washington University in St. Louis, a doxycycline-inducible BMP2-Lentivirus vector has been developed for localized delivery via biodegradable scaffolds (such as chitosan-agarose-gelatin cryogels) to promote the healing of atrophic nonunion fractures. By delivering the BMP2 gene directly to the fracture site, the therapy drives localized osteogenesis and bone remodeling without the excessive, uncontrolled ossification often associated with systemic or high-dose recombinant BMP2 administration.
