BMS-188797 is a synthetic analog of paclitaxel, classified as a taxane derivative with antineoplastic (anticancer) activity. It was developed by Bristol Myers Squibb for the potential treatment of solid tumors. The drug acts by binding to and stabilizing microtubules, thereby inhibiting their disassembly, which leads to cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase and induces apoptosis in cancer cells. Preclinical studies showed potent antiproliferative effects against human tumor cells, and it demonstrated superior activity compared to paclitaxel in experimental models. Clinical trials evaluated its use alone or in combination with platinum-based agents such as cisplatin or carboplatin for advanced malignancies including ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, lung cancer (NSCLC), esophageal cancer, and others. However, further development was halted after early-phase clinical trials[1][2][3][4][5][6][8].
