BMS-767778 is an orally active small molecule developed by Bristol Myers Squibb as a selective inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP4), also known as CD26 antigen. It was investigated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus due to its antihyperglycemic properties. The compound belongs to the chemical classes of pyridines and pyrroles and acts by inhibiting DPP4 activity with high potency (Ki = 0.9 nM), thereby increasing incretin levels and improving glycemic control. Clinical development reached phase I trials but was subsequently discontinued for type 2 diabetes mellitus[1][2][3][4].
