BMS-986258 is a fully human monoclonal antibody that targets T-cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain-containing protein 3 (TIM-3), also known as HAVCR2. By binding to TIM-3 expressed on certain T cells, including tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), it acts as an immune checkpoint inhibitor designed to enhance anti-tumor immune responses. The drug was originally developed by Five Prime Therapeutics and Bristol Myers Squibb and is being investigated primarily for the treatment of advanced or metastatic solid tumors, including renal cell carcinoma, colorectal cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck, and triple negative breast cancer. It has been studied both as monotherapy and in combination with other immunotherapies such as nivolumab[1][2][4][5][7].
