BMS-986419 (also known as EVT-8683 and EOAI-4018683) is an orally administered small molecule drug in development for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders, specifically Alzheimer's disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). It acts as an activator of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2B (eIF2B), a key regulator in the integrated stress response pathway. By stimulating eIF2B, BMS-986419 aims to restore protein synthesis impaired during cellular stress, which is implicated in neurodegeneration. The drug was originally discovered by Evotec SE and is being developed by Bristol Myers Squibb in collaboration with Evotec SE. As of early 2025, it is undergoing Phase I clinical trials for ALS and other neurodegenerative disorders[1][2][7].
