BN107

BN107 is an orally active, botanically derived anticancer agent developed by Bionovo Inc. It was specifically designed to target estrogen receptor (ER) negative breast cancer cells, a population often resistant to conventional hormonal therapies. The drug's mechanism of action involves the induction of apoptosis (programmed cell death) through the mitochondrial pathway. BN107 was engineered to provide high target selectivity and a favorable tolerability profile compared to traditional chemotherapy, supporting its potential for chronic oral administration. Preclinical findings regarding its mechanism and efficacy were presented at the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR) annual meeting in 2008. However, development of the compound ceased following the developer's financial difficulties and subsequent bankruptcy in 2013.
