BNC1 siRNA is a small interfering RNA designed to silence the expression of the Basonuclin 1 (BNC1) gene. BNC1 is a zinc finger transcription factor primarily expressed in the basal layer of stratified squamous epithelia and in germ cells. In the context of oncology, BNC1 has been identified as a potential biomarker and therapeutic target, particularly in pancreatic cancer, where its overexpression is linked to tumor progression and poor prognosis. By utilizing the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, BNC1 siRNA facilitates the sequence-specific degradation of BNC1 mRNA, leading to reduced protein levels. This inhibition has been shown in laboratory settings to suppress cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in various cancer cell lines. While currently utilized primarily as a research tool to investigate BNC1 biology and its role in disease, it represents a class of targeted RNA therapeutics.
