Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BNO 3731 is a topical cosmetic combination product (emollient plus) developed by Bionorica SE for the management of atopic dermatitis (AD) and eczema-prone skin. It contains a synergistic combination of ginger extract and synthetic cannabidiol (CBD). Preclinical studies in human skin cell cultures have demonstrated that BNO 3731 exerts potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidative effects, characterized by the inhibition of nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) activation and a reduction in the release of inflammatory cytokines. These effects are associated with elevated concentrations of the endocannabinoid anandamide. In clinical trials involving both adults and children with atopic eczema, BNO 3731 significantly reduced itch intensity and improved physiological skin parameters, such as skin barrier function, without reported adverse events.
