BNT113 is an investigational mRNA-based therapeutic cancer vaccine developed using BioNTech’s FixVac platform. It encodes for the human papillomavirus serotype 16 (HPV16) oncoproteins E6 and E7, which are shared tumor antigens in HPV16-positive cancers. The vaccine is designed to stimulate the immune system to recognize and attack cells expressing these viral oncoproteins, thereby targeting HPV16-driven tumors. BNT113 is being evaluated primarily for unresectable recurrent or metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) that is positive for HPV16 and expresses PD-L1. It is also under development for other HPV-positive cancers such as cervical cancer, anogenital cancer, and penile cancer[3][5][9]. The drug can be administered via intradermal or intravenous routes[5].
