BNT162b3 is a prophylactic mRNA-based vaccine candidate developed by BioNTech for the prevention of COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2 infection). It was part of the BNT162 clinical development program, which also produced the widely used BNT162b2 (Comirnaty). BNT162b3 was designed to explore different dosing regimens and potentially optimized RNA constructs or delivery systems compared to its predecessors. A Phase I/II trial (NCT04816669) was initiated to evaluate its safety and immunogenicity in healthy adults, though the development plan was later adjusted, skipping Part B of the study in favor of other candidates in the BioNTech/Pfizer pipeline.
