BNT162b7 is an investigational mRNA-based vaccine candidate developed by BioNTech and Pfizer for the prevention of COVID-19. It is part of a next-generation series of SARS-CoV-2 vaccine candidates (including BNT162b4, BNT162b5, and BNT162b6) designed to evaluate different mRNA constructs and formulations to enhance the breadth and durability of the immune response. BNT162b7 has been studied in clinical trials, such as NCT05477368, in both monovalent (targeting the Omicron BA.4/BA.5 variant) and bivalent (targeting the original SARS-CoV-2 strain and Omicron BA.4/BA.5) forms. The vaccine utilizes lipid nanoparticle (LNP) technology to deliver mRNA encoding the viral spike protein, thereby inducing neutralizing antibodies and T-cell responses in vaccine-experienced individuals.
