Overview

**BNT165** is an investigational mRNA-lipid nanoparticle (LNP) vaccine developed by BioNTech for the prevention of malaria caused by *Plasmodium falciparum*. It employs a multi-antigen approach, with components such as BNT165b1 encoding part of the circumsporozoite protein (PfCSP), BNT165c encoding the full PfCSP, and BNT165d1/d2 encoding conserved segments of liver stage-expressed proteins, delivered via intramuscular vaccination to induce protective immune responses against sporozoite and liver stages of the parasite. The program includes variants evaluated in Phase 1 and Phase 1/2 trials targeting healthy adults, with BioNTech aiming for scalable manufacturing in Africa to address high medical need in endemic regions.[1][2][3][4][7][12]
