BNT165d is an investigational mRNA-based vaccine component developed by BioNTech for the prevention of malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum. It is a constituent of the multi-antigen vaccine candidate BNT165e. BNT165d is a combination of two distinct RNAs, BNT165d1 and BNT165d2, which encode conserved, immunogenic segments of proteins expressed during the liver stage of the P. falciparum life cycle. These RNAs are encapsulated in lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) to facilitate delivery and induce a protective immune response against the parasite before it reaches the symptomatic blood stage.
