BNT168 is an investigational, ribonucleic acid (RNA)-based vaccine developed by BioNTech SE for the treatment and prevention of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection. Utilizing BioNTech's proprietary mRNA technology, the vaccine encodes specific HIV-1 antigens designed to stimulate the host's immune system to recognize and combat the virus. The primary goal of BNT168 is to evaluate its safety, immunogenicity, and its ability to achieve virological control in both HIV-negative individuals and people living with HIV (PLWH). It is currently being studied in a Phase I/II clinical trial (NCT05432219) to determine its potential as a therapeutic or preventive intervention in the global effort to manage HIV/AIDS.
