Overview

BNZ-2 is a first-in-class, selective inhibitor of the cytokines interleukin-15 (IL-15) and interleukin-21 (IL-21). It is a synthetic peptide therapeutic developed for subcutaneous administration. The drug is designed to address immune-mediated diseases by selectively blocking IL-15 and IL-21, two cytokines that act synergistically in driving the pathology of celiac disease and other inflammatory gastrointestinal and hepatic disorders. By inhibiting these targets, BNZ-2 aims to modulate immune responses implicated in disease progression. The drug has undergone substantial translational work supporting its use as a treatment for various gastrointestinal diseases and is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials with proof-of-concept studies planned for patients with celiac disease[5][10].
