Overview

Bofanglutide (GZR18) is an ultra-long-acting, bi-weekly glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA) independently developed by Gan & Lee Pharmaceuticals. As a biologic drug, it is designed for body weight management in individuals with obesity or who are overweight, as well as for glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Bofanglutide is positioned as a potential first-in-class bi-weekly GLP-1 RA globally, with clinical trials demonstrating weight reduction efficacy comparable or superior to existing marketed GLP-1 RAs and a safety profile consistent with the established class. Notably, it is the first GLP-1 receptor mono-agonist to undergo a head-to-head global comparison with the dual agonist tirzepatide to evaluate efficacy in body weight management.
