Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bofutsushosan + Duolac is a combination therapy investigated for the treatment of obesity and metabolic syndrome. It consists of **Bofutsushosan**, a traditional Japanese Kampo herbal medicine (also known as Fang-Feng-Tong-Sheng-San) containing 18 herbal ingredients, and **Duolac 7**, a fourth-generation dual-coated probiotic supplement manufactured by Cell Biotech. The probiotic component contains seven strains: *Streptococcus thermophilus*, *Lactobacillus plantarum*, *L. acidophilus*, *L. rhamnosus*, *Bifidobacterium lactis*, *B. longum*, and *B. breve*. The therapy aims to modulate the gut microbiota, reduce gut permeability, and lower endotoxin levels, which are factors associated with obesity-related inflammation and metabolic dysfunction. Clinical research conducted by Dongguk University and Cell Biotech has demonstrated that the combination can significantly improve HDL cholesterol levels and influence energy metabolism through the modulation of fecal bacteria populations.
