bogeliptin

Bogeliptin (BD-101) is a selective, orally bioavailable dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor developed by Shandong Baijidi Chang Pharmaceutical for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Like other members of the gliptin class, bogeliptin works by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for the degradation of incretin hormones, specifically glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). By maintaining higher levels of these hormones, bogeliptin stimulates insulin release and inhibits glucagon secretion from the pancreas in a glucose-dependent manner, effectively lowering blood glucose levels with a low risk of hypoglycemia. The drug has been evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials in China.
