Overview

Bojungikgitang is a traditional herbal medicine preparation widely used in Traditional Korean Medicine (TKM) and approved by the Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA) for the treatment of tinnitus in adults. It is a multi-component botanical formulation consisting of extracts from eight specific herbs: *Astragali radix*, white ginseng, *Atractylodes rhizome white*, *Glycyrrhizae resina*, *Angelicae gigantis radix*, *Fraxini cortex*, *Cimicifugae rhizoma*, and *Bupleuri radix*. While its exact mechanism of action is complex due to its multi-herb nature, it is thought to act through multiple biological pathways to alleviate symptoms of tinnitus. The Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI) has sponsored clinical research, including a Phase III trial evaluating its efficacy in adult patients with chronic tinnitus.
